PITSBURG – Franklin Monroe rallied to score four runs in the fifth inning and defeat rival Arcanum 4-3 in a Cross County Conference softball game on Tuesday.

The Franklin Monroe Lady Jets took on the Arcanum Trojans in a home game Tuesday night that lead to a great win for the Jets.

In the top of the first Arcanum’s McKenzie Sharritts hit a two-out home run over the fence in the center field, giving the Trojans an early 1-0 lead.

The game remained 1-0 until the fifth inning when both teams caught fire.

Arcanum’s Gracie Garno got the Trojans started with a double into center field. Shai Robinson then hit a two-run homer, putting the Trojans up 3-0.

In the bottom half of the inning Franklin Monroe got going when Chloe Henninger led off with a single. Following a sacrifice bunt by Belle Cable, Kennedy Morris singled to put runners on the corners.

The Jets got on the scoreboard when Chloe Peters sent a sacrifice fly into center field, reducing their deficit to 3-1. Emilee Morris then drove a RBI single into right field, driving in Kennedy Morris and making it a one-run game, 3-2.

Franklin Monroe tied the game when Kinsey Goins drove a RBI double into center, scoring Emilee Morris and knotting the score at 3-3. Brigette Filbrun then hit a RBI double into center to drive in Goins and give the Jets their first lead of the game, 4-3.

“This game was unbelievable,” Franklin Monroe head coach Mike Morris said. “We are such a young team, and we needed this win bad. We need to start believing in ourselves, and we can start winning. We play Bradford Thursday, and we will need to be refocused and ready to play.”

Franklin Monroe improved to 5-8 overall and 3-1 in the conference with the win.
