Bradford baseball team beats Mississinawa Valley at Fifth Third Field

DAYTON – Bradford beat Mississinawa Valley 10-6 in a non-conference baseball game on Saturday at Fifth Third Field, the home of the Dayton Dragons.

Mississinawa Valley scored one run in the first inning and Bradford scored one in the second to tie the score. Bradford then went up 4-1 with three runs in the third.

After both teams scored one run in the fourth inning, Mississinawa Valley scored two and Bradford scored three in the fifth inning to make it 8-4. Both teams then scored two more runs in the sixth inning.

Bradford had 12 hits and three errors on Saturday while Mississinawa had six hits and one error.

Bradford’s Walker Branson went 3-for-3 with two doubles, two stolen bases, three runs and one RBI. Mason Justice was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a stolen base, a RBI and a run. Bryson Canan was 2-for-3 with a walk, a RBI and a run. Wade Gerlach was 1-for-2 with a triple, was hit by a pitch, scored a run and drove in a run.

Bryant Byers went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, a RBI and a run for Bradford. Dillon Reck was 1-for-1 with a walk, a stolen base, a RBI and a run. Alex Swabb was 1-for-2 with two walks, a stolen base, a RBI and a run. Parker Smith was 1-for-4. Gaven Trevino scored a run.

Mississinawa Valley’s Casey Rust was 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBI. Andrew Johns was 1-for-3, was hit by a pitch, stole three bases, drove in a run and scored two runs. Ethan Dirksen was 1-for-3 with a walk, a RBI and a run.

Daniel Wogoman was 1-for-2, was hit by a pitch, stole two bases and scored a run. Zac Longfellow was 1-for-4, was hit by a pitch, stole two bases and scored two runs. Trent Collins was 1-for-3, walked, scored a run and drove in a run. Colton Hines walked and drove in a run.

Jeff Wolf earned the win for Bradford by pitching 3 2/3 innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits, no walks and one strikeout. Branson pitched 1/3 of an inning, allowing one unearned run on no hits and three walks.

Larkin Painter pitched 1 1/3 innings for Bradford, allowing three earned runs and one unearned run on one hit, two walks and three hit batters. Gerlach pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing two hits, no walks and striking out two.

Johns was the losing pitcher for Mississinawa Valley as he went 2 1/3 innings, allowing four earned runs on five hits, two walks and one strikeout. Cameron Shimp pitched 2 2/3 innings, giving up three earned runs and one unearned run on four hits, five walks and one hit batter. Matthew Slob pitched one inning, allowing two earned runs on three hits, no walks and two strikeouts.
