Bradford baseball team beats Ansonia 9-5

ANSONIA – Braford beat Ansonia 9-5 in a Cross County Conference baseball game on Tuesday.

Bradford took a 1-0 lead in the first inning then Ansonia went ahead 2-1 in the bottom half of the inning. Bradford scored three runs in the second while Ansonia scored one to make it 4-3 in favor of the Railroaders.

After both teams scored one run in the third inning, Bradford added two in both the sixth and seventh innings to lead 9-4. Ansonia then scored the game’s final run in the bottom of the seventh.

Bradford had nine hits and two errors while Ansonia had five hits and seven errors.

Bradford’s Walker Branson was 3-for-4 with a home run, a stolen base, a RBI and three runs. Alex Swabb was 2-for-4 with a walk, three stolen bases, two runs and a RBI. Josh Phillips was 2-for-2 with a stolen base and a run.

Mason Justice went 1-for-3, was hit by a pitch and drove in a run for Bradford. Dillon Reck was 1-for-4 with two RBI. Parker Smith stole four bases and scored two runs.

Ansonia’s Rygh Fortkamp was 2-for-4 with a home run, a stolen base, a run and two RBI. Kane Kimmel was 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk, two stolen bases, two runs and a RBI. Zac Longenecker was 1-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base and a run. Lane Clark went 1-for-4 with a RBI. Devyn Sink walked twice, stole a base and scored a run. Trevor Beam also drove in a run.

Phillips pitched two innings for Bradford, allowing two earned runs and one unearned run on two hits, two walks and two strikeouts. Fischer Spencer pitched five innings and allowed two earned runs on three hits, three walks and four strikeouts.

Kimmel pitched six innings for Ansonia, allowing two earned runs and five unearned runs on seven hits, three walks, three hit batters and six strikeouts. Clark pitched one inning and allowed one earned run and one unearned run on three hits.
