Versailles baseball team defeats Minster

VERSAILLES – Cole Neikamp only allowed two hits and struck out 11 as Versailles beat Minster 8-1 in a Midwest Athletic Conference baseball game on Tuesday.

After Minster scored the game’s first run in the top half of the first inning Versailles scored eight unanswered runs with one in the first, two in the second, one in the third, one in the fourth and three in the sixth.

Versailles had 11 hits and one error while Minster had two hits and one error.

Niekamp pitched the complete game, allowing one unearned run on two hits, three walks and 11 strikeouts.

Kurtis Rutschilling went 3-for-3 at the plate, was hit by a pitch, stole a base and scored a run. Jacob Heitkamp was 2-for-3, was hit by a pitch, stole a base, scored a run and drove in three runs. Noah Richard was 2-for-2 with two walks, two runs and a RBI. Kyle Subler was 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI.

Isaac Ruhenkamp was 1-for-4 with a double, a stolen base, a RBI and a run. Neikamp went 1-for-3 and scored a run. Keaton McEdowney drove in a run and scored a run. Austin Knapke walked and scored a run.
