Versailles softball team run rules St. Marys

ST. MARYS – Caitlin McEldowney pitched a one-hitter and recorded four hits as Versailles run ruled St. Marys 16-3 in six innings of softball on Monday.

St. Marys took a 1-0 lead in the first inning then Versailles tied the game in the top half of the third inning. St. Marys regained the lead with two more runs in the bottom half of the third, but then Versailles scored three in the fourth, seven in the fifth and fifth in the sixth to win by run rule.

Versailles had 13 hits and four errors while St. Marys had one hit and five errors.

Caitlin McEldowney pitched the complete game, allowing one earned run and two unearned runs on one hit, one walk and five strikeouts.

Offensively Caitlin McEldowney was 4-for-5 with two doubles, a stolen base, a RBI and four runs. Kami McEldowney was 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, a stolen base, two runs and four RBI. Sarah Gigandet went 3-for-5 with a stolen base, two runs and four RBI. Hailey McEldowney was 2-for-5 with a stolen base and a run.

Mallory George was 1-for-4, was hit by a pitch, scored two runs and drove in two runs. Kate Stammen was 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a RBI. Anna Gehret was 1-for-2, walked twice and scored three runs. Sarah Kremer walked twice and scored a run. Hallie Mills was hit by a pitch and scored a run.
