Versailles softball team loses at St. Henry

ST. HENRY – Versailles lost 11-10 in a Midwest Athletic Conference softball game at St. Henry on Tuesday.

St. Henry took a 3-0 lead in the first inning then Versailles tied the game with one run in the third and two in the fourth. After St. Henry scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth, Versailles scored four runs in the top of the fifth to take its first lead, 7-6.

St. Henry tied the game in the bottom of the fifth then both teams scored two runs in the sixth to make it 9-9. Versailles scored one run in the top of the seventh, and St. Henry scored two in the bottom half of the inning to win 11-10.

Versailles had 15 hits and five errors. St. Henry had 14 hits and three errors.

Kate Stammen went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs and two RBI. Cori Lawrence went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, a run and two RBI. Kami McEldowney was 2-for-4 with a double, a run and two RBI. Caitlin McEldowney was 2-for-4, scored a run and drove in a run.

Brynna Blakeley was 2-for-4 and scored a run. Anna Gehret was 2-for-4 with a double and scored a run. Sarah Gigandet went 1-for-2 with a triple and a run. Hailey McEldowney was 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a RBI. Hallie Mills was hit by a pitch and scored a run. Mallory George drove in a run. Hannah Barga scored a run.

Lawrence pitched the complete game, allowing 10 earned runs and one unearned run on 14 hits, two walks and two strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.
