Greenville baseball team loses at Xenia

XENIA – Xenia scored nine unanswered runs to defeat the Greenville baseball team 9-2 on Monday.

Greenville scored the first two runs of Monday’s game in the top half of the first inning. Xenia then responded with five runs in the first inning, one in the second, one in the third, one in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Xenia had 11 hits and one error. Greenville had six hits and two errors.

Jason Shields went 2-for-3 and stole a base for Greenville. Kyle Mills was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Tyler Beyke was 1-for-3 and scored a run. Brandon Beyke and Grant Minnich both went 1-for-3. Logan Eldridge walked and scored a run.

Tyler Beyke was the losing pitcher as he went three innings on the mound, allowing five earned runs and three unearned runs on 10 hits, one walk, one hit batter and two strikeouts.

Cam Kiser pitched one inning and retired all three batters he faced. Colton Zumbrun pitched one inning and allowed one unearned run on no hits and one walk. Owen Paulus pitched one scoreless inning, allowing one hit and no walks while striking out one.
