Cross County Conference hosts season-opening tournament

VERSAILLES – The Arcanum boys golf team finished third in the Cross County Conference’s preseason tournament at Stillwater Valley Golf Club to lead the Darke County squads.

Miami East won the conference’s preseason tournament with a 245, Newton finished second with a 245, Arcanum was third with a 258, Bethel finished fourth with a 258, Tri-Village was fifth with a 266, Covington finished sixth with a 271, Franklin Monroe was seventh with a 275, and Twin Valley South was eighth with a 310.

For the CCC preseason tournament, each school divided its team into pairs of golfers. Each pair played together with part of the course being an alternating shot format, part being a best ball format and part being a best score format.

Conner Pohl and Steven Vanatta led Arcanum with an 18-hole round of 75. The duo of Nate Kubik and Sam Artz shot an 88 for the Trojans, and Hayden Westfall and Mitch Sink shot a 95.

Brett Boyter and Tyler VanWinkle led Tri-Village with a round of 76. Knox Morris and Brandon Peters shot a 95 for the Patriots while Luke Wheeler and Elijah Fourman also shot a 95.

Bradey Hesler and Landon Peters led Franklin Monroe with a round of 85. The duo of Derek Lusher and Bryce Filbrun shot a 95 for the Jets, and Jeremy Bridenbaugh and Noah Koffer also shot a 95.

Josh Rehmert and Joe Teeter led Mississinawa Valley with a round of 88. Also for the Blackhawks the duo of Brandon Beanblossom and Trent Collins shot a 130.

Lane Clark and Logan Miller led Ansonia with a score of 105. John Fisher and Trent Rader shot a 109 for the Tigers.

Bethel’s Tyler Wienert and Tyler Brookhart led all golfers with an 18-hole round of 81.
