Arcanum, Franklin Monroe coaches to host camp for shot put, discus

DARKE COUNTY – The coaches of the Arcanum and Franklin Monroe track and field throws programs invite throwers in junior high and high school to join in for two weeks of drills, technique work and lots of throwing.

All athletes will be given individual attention to help progress their skill level. All talent levels are welcome.

The camp will including training in both shot put and discus, and, time permitting, may include some introduction to the hammer throw as well.

The camp will begin with shot put skills and technique from June 19-23 at Franklin Monroe. The camp will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. each day between the track and baseball field.

The second week of the camp will run from Jun 26-30 at Arcanum and include instruction in discus. The camp will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. each day at the front entrance to the football field.

Coaching will be provided by Coach Rick Ingold from Franklin Monroe, Coach Theo Whitaker from Arcanum and Coach Matthew Fox from Hilliard Darby. All coaches have coached indoor and outdoor state qualifying athletes. Each coach also has assisted throwers who have continued their throwing careers at the college level.

The cost of the two-week camp is $50. For one week of just shot put or discus, the cost is $30. A daily enrollment also is available at a cost of $5.

For anyone registering for a week or more, the registration fee will include a camp T-shirt with the camp logo on it.
