Ansonia’s Firecracker Run 5K draws 351 runners, walkers

ANSONIA – More than 350 runners and walkers participated in the 34th annual Firecracker Run 5K in Ansonia on the Fourth of July.

The 351 runners and walkers in Tuesday’s race were the most the Firecracker Run has had in the past decade. There were 220 pre-registered participants, which was the most the event has ever had pre-registered.

Among the competitors was Bill Haber of Greenville, who has competed in all 34 of the annual Firecracker Run 5Ks.

Joe Spitzer was the top overall finisher, completing the race in 16:33.2. Calen Bruner finished second in Calen Bruner, and Adam Klipstine finished third in 18:10.8.

Crystal Barton finished first among the women with a time of 21:29.7, Grace Coakley finished second in 22:39, and Jeanne Homan finished third in 22:42.9.

Tony Spitzer won the boys 10 and younger division in 23:04.9, Jack Spitzer finished second in 25:21.7, and Gavin Moody finished third in 26:45.8.

Claire Lind won the girls 10 and younger division with a time of 36:00.5, Lyla Tamplin finished second in 39.25, and Haylee Moore finished third in 39.52.8.

Joey Thomas won the boys 11 to 14 age division in 22:22.2, Noah Stevens finished second in 22.33, and Jarrett Petitjean finished third in 24:12.6.

Isabelle Rammel won the girls 11 to 14 division in a time of 23.18.8, Isabelle Hamilton finished second in 24:06.2, and Brooklyn Miras finished third in 24:19.2.

Isaac Stephens won the boys 15 to 19 division in 19:13.1, Chance Klipstine finished second in 19:47.9, and Logan Warner finished third in 20:47.7.

Brooke Perreira won the girls 15 to 19 division with a time of 23:38.3, Mara Wetzel finished second in 24:30.4, and Erica Barker finished third in 24:33.9.

Austin Bergman won the men’s 20 to 24 division in a time of 22:08.1, Blake Wise finished second in 25:01.2, and Colton Troutwine finished third in 25:49.

Hannah Coakley won the girls 20 to 24 division in 27:06.5, Heather Ferris finished second in 27:52.3, and Amber Karns finished third in 33:54.5.

Ryan Benge won the men’s 25 to 29 division with a time of 24:44.2, Ryan Dickey finished second in 25:57.5, and Reese Walters finished third in 26:15.9.

Malorie Cox won the women’s 25 to 29 division in a time of 27:29.9, Shelby Rowland finished second in 28:52.7, and Brittany Burnelto finished third in 30:21.8.

Justin Hines won the men’s 30 to 34 division in 21:03.6, Kyle Homan finished second in 21:37.7, and Lucas Stump finished third in 21:38.1.

Catie Topp won the women’s 30 to 34 division with a time of 23:53.5, Julie Roessner finished second in 24:31, and Alicia Marker finished third in 25:02.9.

Chad Topp won the men’s 35 to 39 division in a time of 19:48.3, Allen Newbauer finished second in 21:35.7, and Bruce Burns finished third in 21:39.8.

Jennifer Warner won the women’s 35 to 39 division with a time of 24:22.2, Sabrina Riley finished second in 25:10.9, and Holly Fiora finished third in 26:17.9.

Justin Marshall won the men’s 40 to 44 division in 21:04.5, Chris Warner finished second in 22:07.1, and Terry Neal finished third in 23:10.3.

Lois Spitzer won the women’s 40 to 44 division in a time of 25:22.9, Kati Stephens finished second in 26:01.7, and Michelle Bennett finished third in 32:10.4.

Joey Hoover won the men’s 45 to 49 division in 21:15.7, Doug Rindler finished second in 23:02.9, and Joel Hine finished third in 23:39.8.

Kitty Davis won the women’s 45 to 49 division in 28.28, Rebecca Detling finished second in 30:22.4, and Jonelle Haupt finished third in 30:24.3.

John Unger won the men’s 50 to 54 division with a time of 21:34.1, Scott Snell finished second in 21:46.7, and Jeff Goubeaux finished third in 21:59.1.

Shelly Haber won the women’s 50 to 54 division in 25:05.8, Laura James finished second in 29:43.8, and Danesa Borgerding finished third in 30:15.4.

Rick Moody won the men’s 55 to 59 division in a time of 19:38.9, Joe Vonder Haar finished second in 20:36.3, and Dan Homan finished third in 21:47.

Sandy Hoening won the women’s 55 to 59 division with a time of 23:47.5, Cheryl Collins finished second in 28:11.5, and Sharon Ranly finished third in 29:06.7.

Richard Barton won the men’s 60 to 64 division in 22:56.1, Jon Hein finished second in 23:10, and Ivan Steinke finished third in 24:56.5.

Connie Harshbarger won the women’s 60 to 64 division in a time of 26:31.4, Terry McCann finished second in 29:08.6, and Kathy Barton finished third in 30:06.4.

Randy Bashore won the men’s 65 to 69 division in 25:11, Ron Griffitts finished second in 27:57.2, and Rich Barger finished third in 39.13.

Susan Fowble won the women’s 65 to 69 division with a time of 31:05.6, Rebecca Shumaker finished second in 35:28.9, and Mary Saintignon finished third in 35:48.6.

Dale Guingrich won the men’s 70 and older division in a time of 30.26.5, Chuck Petty finished second in 32.29, and Gene Black finished third in 38:25.8.

Marilyn Sowers won the women’s 70 and older division with a time of 44:04.9.
