VERSAILLES – Versailles basketball player Justin Ahrens is ranked as the 138th best player in the class of 2018 by rivals.com.

Ahrens, a 6-foot 5-inch small forward, is rated as a three-star prospect by Rivals. The Versailles senior is the sixth highest rated player in Ohio behind Darius Bazley from Princeton, Jerome Hunter from Pickerington North, Pete Nance from Revere, Dwayne Cohill from Holy Name and Dane Goodwin from Upper Arlington.

Ahrens will take three officials visits over the course of the next month. This weekend he is visiting Michigan, he’ll visit Ohio State from Sept. 22-24, and he’ll visit Xavier from Sept. 29-Oct. 1.

Ahrens verbally committed to Ohio State in August 2016, but he reopened his recruitment in June after the Buckeyes fired head coach Thad Matta.

As a junior Ahrens averaged 22.4 points, 8.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game and helped lead Versailles to the Midwest Athletic Conference championship. He was named the MAC boys basketball player of the year by the league, was named first team all-Ohio in Division III and the Division III co-player of the year by the Associated Press and was one of three players to earn a vote for Ohio’s Mr. Basketball award.
