Bradford’s Karmen Knepp wins Spencerville Bearcat Invitational cross country meet

SPENCERVILLE – Bradford cross country runner Karmen Knepp won for the second consecutive week as she claimed the individual championship on Saturday at the Spencerville Bearcat Invitational.

After winning last week’s Treaty City Invitational in Greenville, Knepp won the high school girls Red division race, which included 132 runners, with a time of 19:18.4. Also for the Lady Railroaders, Skipp Miller finished sixth in 20:42.6, Olivia Daugherty finished 23:29.0, and Abby Gade finished 100th in 27:32.9.

St. Henry won the girls team championship while Bradford didn’t have enough runners to record a team score.

The Bradford boys finished 10th out of 10 teams in the high school boys Red division behind Houston, Botkins, St. Henry, Parkway, Antwerp, Jackson Center, New Bremen, Lima Central Catholic and Covington. The Railroaders beat New Knoxville and Lehman Catholic.

Johnny Fike led Bradford by finishing 13th overall in 17:54.8. Also for the Railroaders, Jay Roberts finished 24th in 18:35.3, Jackson Moore finished 42nd in 19:27.3, Kurt Hoover finished 83rd in 21:19.7, Ethan Saunders finished 88th in 21:48.6, Jared Shellabarger finished 108th in 23:14.8, Shane Bryan finished 109th in 23:17.0, and Jordan Shellabarger finished 115th in 23:59.3.

Parkway’s Matt Gaerke won the race, which included 138 runners, in 17:03.8.
