Mississinawa Valley volleyball team loses in 4 sets to Covington

UNION CITY – Mississinawa Valley started Tuesday’s Cross County Conference volleyball match against Covington with a bang but ultimately lost in four sets.

The Lady Hawks played hard against the visiting Lady Buccs, taking the first set 25-21.

But then things started failing to click, and Mississinawa Valley couldn’t overcome a huge deficit in set two, ending down 25-13 to even the match at one game apiece.

The third set started out well with the Lady Hawks jumping out to a quick lead, but after a timeout by the Buccaneers the game became a neck-and-neck race to the finish with the Buccs getting there first, 25-22.

In the fourth set the Lady Hawks just couldn’t get things to go their way, and the match ended with a 25-15 loss to drop the match.

Mississinawa Valley’s Sidnie Hunt had four aces, 14 assists, 11 kills and 18 digs. MaKenna Price had nine kills. Stevi Keen had 20 digs. Olivia Murphy had 13 assists. Amanda Armstrong had six blocks. Riley Price had two aces and four blocks.

Covington won the junior varsity match in two sets.

Mississinawa Valley started out well, and the first set was neck-and-neck all the way. However, the Lady Buccs got to the finish first at 25-22.

The second set didn’t go as planned for MV with lots of errors happening on the home team side, and the Lady Hawks fell 25-18.

Kya Lavy had two aces and four kills. Macy Stewart had seven digs. Leah Scholl had six assists and five kills. Taylor Stachler had six digs, seven assists and five kills.
