Arcanum boys basketball team defeats Coldwater

ARCANUM – The Arcanum boys basketball team beat Coldwater 62-55 in its season opener on Friday.

Arcanum led 19-16 at the end of the first quarter and 34-27 at halftime. The Cavaliers cut their deficit to 43-40 in the third quarter, but the Trojans held on to win by 7 points, 62-55.

Carter Gray led Arcanum with a game-high 33 points. Also for the Trojans, Evan Atchley scored 17 points, Grant Delk scored 4, Wills Troutwine scored 4, Lane Byrne scored 3, and Andrew Baker scored 1.

Marcus Bruns led Coldwater with 16 points. Also for the Cavaliers, Jacob Wenning scored 15 points, Grant Meyer scored 8, Mitch Balster scored 4, Ben Wenning scored 4, Derek Albers scored 3, Sam Broering scored 3, and Justin Schweiterman scored 2.

Arcanum improved to 1-0 with the win while Coldwater fell to 0-1. The Trojans will return to action on Dec. 8 in a Cross County Conference game at National Trail.
