Arcanum to honor past champions

ARCANUM – Arcanum High School will honor past championship teams with its Champions Night during its varsity football game against Miami East on Sept. 18.

Arcanum honors any champions from the previous year as well as past champions starting out 15 years out in intervals of every five years.

“We want our alumni to know how important and valuable they are to the students of our high school,” Arcanum High School Principal Jason Stephan said. “I want our high school students to see some of the rich athletic history our students have. By seeing our past successes hopefully it will encourage our current teams to strive to achieve excellence.”

The teams that will be honored on Sept. 18 include the 1980 football team, 1980 girls cross country team, 1985 football team, 1990 boys cross country team, 1995 girls cross country team, 1995 girls golf team, 2000 girls golf team, 2000 boys golf team and 2015 baseball team. Arcanum also will honor the 1975 football team, which was the first football team since the restart of the program.

The idea for Champions Night came as one way to demonstrate Arcanum’s continuous improvement goals of promoting pride and traditions at Arcanum-Butler Local Schools – The Trojan Way.

“What better way to promote the The Trojan Way than to honor teams who have worked together to achieve great achievement,” Stephan said.

Anyone who was a part of one of these teams but has not gotten a letter or if anyone who has any questions should contact Stephan at 692-5174 or at [email protected].
