Franklin Monroe boys golf team places 9th in OHSAA sectional tournament

ARCANUM – The Franklin Monroe boys golf team ended its season with a ninth place finish at the Division III sectional tournament on Tuesday at Beechwood Golf Course.

Franklin Monroe shot a 383 to place ninth out of 14 teams in the Beechwood sectional.

Bradey Hesler led Franklin Monroe with an 18-hole round of 88, finishing three strokes out of district qualifying position. Also for the Jets, Noah Koffer shot a 94, Jeremy Bridenbaugh shot a 100, Hunter Rich shot a 101, and Bryce Filbrun shot a 104.

Russia won the sectional tournament with a 334 team score. Along with Russia, Fort Loramie with a 337, Mechanicsburg with a 342 and Fairlawn with a 350 advanced to the district tournament as teams by finishing in the top four.

Dayton Christian’s Ben Kiser with an 81, Lehman Catholic’s Tyler Lachey with an 83, Botkins’ Josh Miller with an 84 and Twin Valley South’s Nathan Osborn with an 85 all qualified for districts as individuals.

Fort Loramie’s Brad Gottemoeller and Mechanicsburg’s Caleb Westfall both shot an even-par 72 to finish as co-medalists for the sectional tournament.
