COLUMBUS – Bradford remained in playoff contention in the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s latest computer ratings release.
For a second consecutive week Bradford, who is 4-4 on the season and coming off a win against Manchester, is ranked No. 12 in the Division VII Region 26 computer ratings.
Versailles, who was rated in the top 12 in Division V Region 18 in each of the OHSAA’s first five computer ratings releases this year, fell out of the top 12 this week after losing to defending state champion Coldwater and falling to 4-4 on the season.
The OHSAA computer points will be used to determine which football teams make the postseason following the conclusion of the regular season. Log on to the football page at OHSAA.org for an explanation of how the ratings are calculated.
In the OHSAA system, Division I is split in two regions with 16 teams from both regions qualifying for the playoffs. Divisions II through VII are split into four regions each with the top eight teams in each region making the playoffs.
Ansonia, Arcanum, Greenville, Mississinawa Valley and Versailles are not ranked in the top 12 of their regions. Thus they are out of playoff position and were not included in this week’s OHSAA computer ratings release.
According to unofficial projections on joeeitel.com, Arcanum and Mississinawa Valley have been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. Ansonia, Bradford, Greenville and Versailles all are mathematically alive in the playoff chase, according to joeeitel.com, although none of them currently are in position to make the playoffs.
