Trotwood-Madison back on top in Division II boys basketball state poll

Trotwood-Madison returns to the top of the Division II boys basketball state poll this week as the only change among the four division leaders.

The Rams are tied for the top spot with Columbus South, both receiving 9 first-place votes and earning 166 points. Trotwood is 18-2 on the season and Columbus South is 19-1. Trotwood had three wins last week to get to 18-2 including a 48-point win over Tippecanoe, a 61-point win over West Carrollton and a 24-point win over Xenia.

Last week’s No. 1 in D-II was Chaminade Julienne. The Eagles (17-3) dropped to No. 4 just behind Cincinnati Wyoming (17-1), which took over the No. 3 spot.

The other three divisions remained unchanged at the top of the poll with Moeller, Archbold and Berlin Hiland still ranked No. 1 in Divisions I, III and IV respectively.

Moeller (19-0) received 18 first-place votes and earned 203 points in Division I to stay ahead of No. 2 Dublin Coffman (19-0) which received 2 first-place votes and totaled 173 points. Both Vandalia Butler and Sidney are in the top 10 this week with the Aviators (18-2) at No. 9 with 61 points and the Yellow Jackets (17-3) at No. 10 with 21 points. Centerville also received 12 points to sit in a tie at No. 14.

In Division III, Archbold received 15 first-place votes and earned 185 points to stay ahead of second-ranked Wheelersburg (20-0) which received 2 first-place votes and totaled 155 points. Both Anna and Brookville are among the top 10 D-III teams with the Rockets (18-1) moving up one spot to No. 5 and the Blue Devils (16-3) sitting at No. 10. Anna received 2 first-place votes and 111 points, while Brookville earned 33 points.

Also in D-III, Cross County Conference teams National Trail and Twin Valley South earned 13 and 12 points respectively to be ranked just outside the top 10.

Berlin Hiland (21-1) received 17 first-place votes and 189 points to stay ahead of No.2-ranked Convoy Crestview in Division IV. Crestview (18-1) had 1 first-place vote and 165 points. St. Henry sits at No. 4 with 118 points and Maria Stein Marion Local collected 12 points to sit at No. 14.
