Lady Jets sweep Tri-Village

NEW MADISON – It was a Volleyball match-up between two of the top teams in the Cross County Conference between Franklin Monroe and Tri-Village. The Jets would play nearly flawless sweeping the Patriots in 3 straight sets to take the match.

In the first set the Jets went up 7-3 before TV fought back to tie it at 17 behind some good play at the net … but the Jets were able to get back on track to take the set 25-19.

It was all FM at the start of set to racing out to a 13-3 advantage before the Patriots rallied back to within 5, 15-10. But once again the Jets relentless play was the difference winning the 25-16.

In the final set it was all FM as everything was going their way and the drama never really unfolded in this match-up as anticipated with the Jets sweeping the Patriots winning 25-16.

“Energy, effort, grit and determination were the key ingredients for Franklin Monroe Volleyball Team,” stated coach Angie Filbrun after the game.

“Tri-Village is good team, so this was an incredible win. We exhibited every single one of those traits we focused on and it took every single one of those girls to win this game and if we continue to play like we’re going to be a force,” Filbrun praised.

Tri-Village coach Jason Brewer would agree with FM coach on how well the Jets played tonight.

FM always plays well, you never see them take a play off and they beat the teams they’re supposed to beat and they play with heart against good teams and that showed tonight, they elevated their game and played to our weakness, served us tough and we just couldn’t make the adjustments,” Brewer stated.

“I’ve admired them all season, they are consistent and always playing where they need to be and coach Filbrun does a really good job of getting them ready and motivated to play,” Brewer added.

“We’re playing tougher teams on our schedule, had a tournament up at Minster and really trying to prepare us to make a nice tournament run. We are 14-5 right now with 2 losses in the league with Arcanum and South yet to play,” Brewer concluded.

The Jets remain in second place in the conference with the win and improved to 14-2 overall and 10-2 in the conference.
