NEW MADISON – The Tri-Village Lady Patriots easily defeated the visiting Dixie Lady Greyhounds 3-0 in non-conference volleyball play.

“We have a pretty talented group this year,” said Tri-Village coach Chris Brewer. “We are still trying to figure out who we are, our identity but we retuned a lot of players from last year. We lost a couple seniors but we have most of our key players back.”

The Lady Patriots jumped out to an early double digit 15-5 lead on their way to a 25-9 first set win.

“We were serving tough and we serve receive and cover well,” said Brewer. “We have good size in the front row with our middles; Madi Mead, Maria Petry and Meghan Downing so when we get the ball up and get a set, we are able to put it away.”

Game No. 2 saw the veteran Tri-Village girls earn a double digit lead at 13-3 and go on to win the game by a 25-7 score.

“You can tell they have played a lot together,” Brewer noted. “They understand each other and we are a very well rounded team.”

The veteran Lady Patriots kept the Lady Greyhounds in single digits on the night taking the third and final set by a 26-6 score and go 1-0 on the new 2020 OHSAA volleyball season.

“It was a good warmup,” said Brewer. “We were ready to start playing.”

“It’s been an unortadox season so far but I know they are all happy to be out here competing,” Coach Brewer added. “I am glad they got the opportunity to compete – so we are going to try and make the most of what we have and not take anything for granted.”
