Tri-Village big over Blackhawks

NEW MADISON – Mississinawa Valley traded baskets with Tri-Village part of the first quarter but was unable to keep pace as the Patriots blew the game wide open in the 2nd quarter to grab a 34-12 advantage at the break, then went on to win the game 67-25 to go 10-0 on the season.

At the 5 minute mark the Patriots ran off 7 straight points to jump on top 13-8. TV shut them out the rest of the quarter to go up 18-8. Josh Scantland had 6 points inside, Dalton Delong and Justin Finkbine each had 4 points in the quarter.

The Patriots held the Hawks to just a triple by Jake Dirmeyer and a free throw from Zach Connor falling behind as the Patriots ripped off 16 points with six players scoring for a 34-12 halftime lead.

The defense was even better in the 3rd frame for the PATS holding MV to 3 points. Layne Sarver had a big quarter with 10 points and Josh Scantland had a two-handed flush delighting the home town fans as TV busted the game open 51-15.

TV added another 16 points in the final stanza as seven more players scored including 5 from Luke Drew and 4 points from Logan Call in the 67-25 win.

Sarver led with 20 points, Scantland had 12, Delong 9 and Wilson Suggs added 8 for Tri-Village.

Jake Dirmeyer and Drew Anguiano each had 6 points for Mississinawa who falls to 2-7 overall and 1-3 in the CCC, they will host Newton Friday for senior night.

Tri-Village improves to 10-0 on the season and travels to Franklin Monroe in a battle of two 4-0 teams in the Cross County Conference.
