GREENVILLE – The Greenville Green Wave junior varsity tennis team hosted an eight team tournament at Greenville National Bank Tennis Complex located on the Greenville Senior High School campus and completed the tournament just as the Saturday rains moved in.

“Although the team is young, they are improving with every match,” said Greenville JV coach, Brian Reifsnider. “It’s a good group of young men who have excellent attitudes, give great effort and really encourage each other.”

Will Gettinger, Cole Saylor, Simon Snyder, Ash Williams and Grant Read played well for the Wave.

Teams from as far away as Wilmington, took to the local courts with Dayton’s Chaminade Julienne edging out the Wilmington Hurricanes for first place.

Greenville took advantage of two close victories in the last matches of second singles and second doubles to help the Wave to a strong third place finish nudging out Northmont.

“I am very pleased with our play today,” Coach Reifsnider stated. “They are growing as athletes and their sportsmanship is impeccable.”
