Dairy King treats Lady Railroaders

GREENVILLE – Greenville’s Dairy King provided free meals for the state bound Bradford Lady Railroaders softball team and coaching staff at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

“We want to support all the schools in Darke County as best we can,” said Dairy Kings’ Dave McCartney. “Some of the outer schools sometimes get forgotten about.”

“Extremely gracious of Dave and his team,” said Bradford coach, Shon Schaffer. “When a company or buisness can do something nice for the girls it is greatly appreciated.”

The state’s No. 4 Bradford defeated the No. 3 Mechanisburg Lady Indians 1-0 at Greenville’s Lady Wave Stadium to earn the right to advance to state.

“As soon as they won the regional championship I thought we have to get them out here, feed them dinner, wish them good luck and send them off to state,” McCartney stated.

“We have one young lady that works for us at the Dairy King, love to have more Bradford girls come out and work at our establishment,” McCartney said of Canan. “Great young lady, wonderful smile. If she works as hard on the diamond as she does at work for us, she is going to go places.”

“We just wanted to support Bradford,” McCarney added, “wish them the best of luck and hope they bring home a state title.”
