Andrea Townsend is prepared for her new position in school district

GREENVILLE — Greenville City School District Director of Administrative and Pupil Personnel Services Andrea Townsend was hired as Greenville High School Director of Career Technology, Special Education and Virtual Academy Supervisor, for the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 school years.

Her position was approved at the Greenville Special Board of Education meeting, May 3. According to Greenville City School District Superintendent Doug Fries, there were other applicants for the position.

“Mrs. Townsend has experience in education in Career – Tech, special education and administration and is well prepared for this new position with the District next year,” he said. “Congratulations to her on the selection.”

Townsend said she is honored by the opportunities her new position provides to serve the students, families and staff members of Greenville City Schools.

“My new position will allow me to collaborate with Career-Tech educators to develop and coordinate programs for students,” she said. “I will also continue an alternative education opportunity through the virtual academy. I will continue to serve students with special needs and the staff who provide those services.”

In her current position, Townsend has managed to juggle several responsibilities, refining her organization and time-management strategies, she said. In addition, she was a Career-Tech teacher in Agricultural education.

“I have gained valuable skills and experiences in that position that I hope to put to good use in my new position,” she said. “I am looking forward to working with the top – notch students and staff in the Career Tech Center at Greenville High School. I am also looking forward to all the opportunities for us to work together to continue the tradition of excellence in Career – Tech that has such a positive impact on our community.”
