NEW MADISON — Tri-Village’s September board meeting is scheduled to start at 5:45 p.m. on Monday.
Retiree picnic set for Monday
GREENVILLE — The annual Hobart and Whirlpool Retiree Picnic will be held at noon Monday at Lucas Woods, 6047 Children’s Home-Bradford Road.
Those who plan to attend are asked to bring a covered dish, drink and table service. Hot dogs and condiments will be furnished.
This is open to all retirees, spouses or friends or anyone having worked there.

Versailles Poultry Days Committee to host blood drive
VERSAILLES – The Versailles Poultry Days Committee will help make a difference in the fight against cancer by sponsoring a community blood drive Monday from 12:30 – 7 p.m. in the Versailles Knights of Columbus social hall, 8440 State Route 47.
Everyone who registers to donate will receive the special-edition “Every Donor Makes a Difference – Give Hope, Give Blood” t-shirt. Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment online at www.DonorTime.com or call 1-800-388-GIVE.
Bradford school board to meet Monday
BRADFORD – The Bradford Exempted Village School District Board of Education will meet in Executive Session at 6 p.m. followed by a Regular Session Meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday in room 404.
The executive session is for (G)(1) for the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion or compensation of an employee or official, or the investigation of charges or complaints against an employee, official, licensee or student requests a public hearing.
Visitors Bureau and Main Street Greenville looking for artists
GREENVILLE – The Darke County Visitors Bureau and Main Street Greenville announced that their organizations are collaboratively looking for local artists to display their work at the Darke County Welcome Center, located at 421 S Broadway in Greenville.
“Our goal is to raise awareness about the talented artists in our area, and we want to give them a place to display and sell their artwork,” said Matt Staugler, Executive Director of the Darke County Visitors Bureau. “We hope locals and visitors who stop in the Welcome Center for information about our area enjoy them.”
Space at the Welcome Center is limited. Artists interested in displaying their work will need to submit an application. Applications can be picked up at the Welcome Center, or by contacting

Massacre Mill to open soon
DARKE COUNTY – Massacre Mill Haunted Woods, Darke County’s number one haunted trail, will commence its 16th season of scaring the pants off local thrillseekers beginning Sept. 25.
Staged at York Woods, the blood-curdling event will be held from 8 p.m. to Midnight every Friday and Saturday night through Oct. 31.

Chicken Dinners to benefit Darke County United Way
GREENVILLE – It’s the same question every night … what’s for dinner? How about a delicious Romer’s Chicken Dinner?
The Darke County United Way is selling chicken dinners for Wednesday, Oct. 7 with all proceeds benefiting Darke County nonprofit agencies.
The dinner includes Romer’s BBQ Chicken, Applesauce, Potato Chips, and a dinner roll. Tickets are $7.50 and are pre-sale only.
Dinners may be picked up at the Greenville Romer’s located at 118 E Main Street between 4 – 6 p.m. Simply drive thru and dinner is ready!

Veterans sought for parade
GREENVILLE — Any veteran in the area is welcome to participate in the Veteran’s Day Parade in Greenville on Nov. 11.
Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 57 Commander Robert Foster said the participants will be leaving Greenville Public Library a little before 11 and march to the courthouse on South Broadway, stopping in front of the clock.
“We have had a banner made this year,” said Foster. “And, we invite veterans to join in the parade.”
According to him, other features of the event will be a prayer, introductions, a 21-gun salute at 11:11 a.m., presentation of a wreath, and the playing of the National Anthem by the high school band. The combined color guard of the DAV, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion will also be in attendance.
