RICHMOND, Ind. – Four-time honorees Kristin Smith, Cameron Cox and Drew Houck headline the list of 37 Indiana University East student-athletes who qualified for the all-Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete Team for the 2014-15 school year.
It’s the highest number of academic all-conference honorees in IU East’s history.
All athletes with a cumulative 3.25 grade point average after at least two semesters of attendance at a KIAC institution are named to the all-KIAC Scholar-Athlete Team.
Smith (Richmond, Ind./Centerville High School), Cox (Farmland, Ind./Monroe Central High School) and Houck (Portland, Ind./Jay County High School), all senior golfers, were all-KIAC Scholar-Athlete honorees for the fourth consecutive year.
Junior basketball players Nick Bollenbacher (Cedar Lake, Ind./Hanover Central High School) and Jason Ray (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville High School), junior cross country/track and field athletes Alexis Brasier (Dillsboro, Ind./South Dearborn High School) and Kyle Hall (Dillsboro, Ind./South Dearborn High School), junior tennis players Connor Kramer (Shirley, Ind./Eastern Hancock High School) and Ethan Taulbee (Camden, Ohio/Preble Shawnee High School), and junior volleyball player Mallory Livingston (Union City, Ohio/Mississinawa Valley High School) made the all-KIAC Scholar-Athlete Team for the third time.
Six sophomore Red Wolves made the all-KIAC Scholar-Athlete Team for the second time: track and field athletes Morgan Stanley (Winchester, Ind./Winchester Community High School), Clint Swanson (Vevay, Ind./Switzerland County High School) and Andrew Willcox (New Paris, Ohio/Tri-Village High School), sophomore volleyball player Katrina Detwiler (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington High School North), sophomore tennis player Brittany Hethcox (New Castle, Ind./New Castle High School) and sophomore basketball player Matthew Werner (Lewisburg, Ohio/Tri-Village High School).
The Red Wolves women’s basketball team led the athletic department with eight all-KIAC Scholar-Athlete selections.
More than 37 percent of IU East’s student athletes made the all-KIAC Scholar-Athlete Team.
