ROSSBURG – Eldora Speedway played host to a community blood drive Thursday. It was held in the Eldora Ballroom, the original dance hall that sits at the Speedway’s main entrance.
The Community Blood Center out of Dayton organized the blood drive and has done so for several years at Eldora.
“You can give blood every eight weeks,” Dana Puterbaugh, from the County Community Blood Center said. “We have other blood drives in this area, but this is one of our eight week rotations that we go to.”
The drive has 68 slots available in the four hour period and officials were hoping to get to 38, if not more via walk ins.
After they donated blood, donors had their choice between Eldora Speedway T-shirts, can cozies and key chains. They were also entered in a drawing with Kings Royal tickets being given to the grand prize winner. Other tickets were also available for the Baltes Classic, UMP DIRTcar Fall Nationals and the UNOH Sprintacular.
Everyone that gives blood between May 4 and August 28, is eligible to win two tickets to Hawaii. Full details are available at www.givingblood.org.
