Man apprehended following chase

DARKE COUNTY — An investigation into a man’s safety and welfare turned into a vehicle pursuit and foot chase in the county Wednesday night.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., Darke County deputies with the assistance of the Greenville and Ansonia Police Departments, attempted to locate and check on John T. Paris, 39, of Ansonia.

Throughout the course of the investigation, numerous areas throughout Darke County were checked.

Deputies located Paris’s vehicle in the area of U.S. Route 127 and Childrens Home-Bradford Road at approximately 11:12 p.m.

As deputies followed the vehicle, Paris began to speed away and a short pursuit ensued on Greenville-Celina Road, just south of Childrens Home-Bradford Road.

The vehicle stopped in front of a business in the 1500 Block of Wagner Avenue and the driver fled on foot. Paris was soon apprehended and taken into custody.

Paris faces charges following the pursuit, including Failure to Comply, Driving While Intoxicated and Inducing Panic. He is currently being held at the Darke County Jail.
