Sweet and Sassy

I think I’m going to have to start cloning myself…today especially.

I have to be at two family reunions at the same time. Mom’s side of the family — the Riffells — are gathering in Greenville City Park and Dad’s side — the Moodys — are gathering at cousin Rick’s. This happened last year also, and my son, Jamie, had the chance to go to the Reds game in Cincinnati, missing both of them.

It’s always nice to get with both sides, so I guess I’ll divide my time up again this year.

Thank goodness, Tina, our editor, said she would work on obits Sunday afternoon, so I could attend these. I will put obits in as soon as I get them so she won’t have so much to do hopefully.

And, I was wanting to take a week’s vacation this month, but guess it’s going to have to be put off until August. It seems like there is so much coming up in the next few weeks that I feel I need to cover….the Darke County Junior Fair King and Queen Contest, the Annie Oakley shooting competition and the event itself and the North Star Community Picnic to name a few, plus I have to judge an upcoming competition at a local festival.

I just hope I don’t get inundated with assignments in August so that I can leave for one little bitty week’s vacation…even if I don’t do anything special. At least I can rest up a bit before that nine-day festival [shhhhhhh — the Great Darke County Fair] the third week. That’s one word [fair] that makes me shudder even though I love getting together with friends and meeting more people each year. It makes me tired just thinking about it. But, I encourage everybody to attend it. It is a blast. Maybe in retirement, I can really enjoy it, but I’m thinking that’s way down the road.
