DARKE COUNTY — Practice starts tonight for the 10 girls who will be shooting it out for the title of Miss Annie Oakley.
It gets underway at 6 p.m. at York Woods. Then, on Wednesday and Thursday nights, same time and same place, the preliminaries and finals, respectively, will be held.
Wednesday night’s competition includes a costume contest among the candidates.
Candidates and their sponsors this year are:

The three-day festival gets underway Friday. The festival times are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission and parking is free this year.
Dennis Soward oversees the contest with the help of wife Shelly and sons Daniel and Shaun.
York Woods is located north of Greenville off of U.S. 127 at the intersection of Reed Road/State Route 242. The actual address is 6129 Reed Road, Versailles.
