A new memorial fund has been established at the New Madison Public Library in honor of Barbara J. Moore.

Barbara enjoyed the library and was a dedicated patron. Audio books became important to her ability to enjoy stories. With the Moore Memorial Fund, the library will be purchasing portable CD players and audio books for check out. According to Brenda Miller, director, the generous gift from her estate will sponsor a stargazing program each year. This year’s night under the stars is planned during Teen Read Week in October.

The library is wrapping up the Summer Reading Program on Friday. It starts at 2 p.m. with a costume contest. This has been a successful summer with 180 signed up to follow the theme “Every Hero Has A Story.”

The adult programming will be continuing with a presentation by the Northern Miami Valley Red Cross. “Citizen CPR” will begin at 6:30 p.m. Planning ahead, the Red Cross will present “Emergency Preparedness” and the “Pillowcase Project.” This second presentation is set for Sept. 22.

The New Madison Public Library is continuing its campaign for the November election. A renewal of the current levy will be on the ballot. This means no tax increase but a continuation of quality service and patron oriented programming.

It was proud moment for those watching the Pan Am games in Toronto on Thursday. Clayton Murphy, Tri-Village graduate and now a junior at Akron, took the gold in the 800-meter race. Wow! Congratulations. He spoke of the pride in carrying the flag after his victory.

Camp Growth has completed a successful summer launch at the United Methodist Church. Congratulations to Macy Fraylick, director. She is a Tri-Village graduate and now a student at Miami University.
