GREENVILLE — Residents in the area of Gardenwood Drive and Rhoades Avenue should prepare themselves for the sound of jackhammers, the smell of asphalt and the sight of orange cones.

The City of Greenville will commence its Gardenwood/Rhoades reconstruction project beginning August 17.

The work will occur on the stretch of street between Victoria Street and North Broadway.

The city’s Planning & Zoning Director, Chad Henry, states that the project “will provide new aggregate street base, asphalt, curb [and] gutters and other miscellaneous stormwater infrastructure.”

Further, “the existing sanitary main will be re-lined underground, consistent with many previous projects performed in recent years.”

Henry said that during construction, the area will be closed to through traffic, but residential access will be maintained, with temporary interruptions receiving adequate notice.

Motorists are asked to use caution when traveling through the construction zone.

The cost of the project is tagged at $995,150, with $500,000 of the total amount offset by a grant awarded to Greenville from the Ohio Public Works Commission.

Work will be performed by Brumbaugh Construction, Inc., of Arcanum. The project is expected to be completed by June 1, 2016.
