Versailles wins Kendig Memorial

PIQUA – The Versailles boys golf team won the 16-team Dan Kendig Memorial, which Arcanum, Franklin Monroe and Tri-Village also competed in on Wednesday at Echo Hills Golf Course.

Versailles shot a 319 to win the invitational, which was hosted by Covington. Miami East finished second with a 325, Russia finished fourth with a 326, Arcanum finished fourth with a 328, Fort Loramie finished fifth with a 329, Bethel finished sixth with a 331, Anna finished seventh with a 334, Newton finished eighth with a 347, Fairlawn finished ninth with a 354, Graham finished 10th with a 358, Tri-Village finished 11th with a 359, Franklin Monroe finished 12th with a 360, National Trail finished 13th with a 368, Covington finished 14th with a 380, Milton-Union finished 15th with a 382, and Houston finished 16th with a 398.

Griffen Reigle led Versailles with an 18-hole round of 76. Also for the Tigers, Kyle Cotner shot a 77, Jacob Watren shot an 81, Nicholas Litten-Stonebraker shot an 85, Connor Custenborder shot a 94, and Alec Ahrens shot a 96.

Graham’s Alex Jennings was the tournament medalist as he shot an even-par 72 for the 18-hole tournament. Miami East’s Kley Karadak finished second with a 73, Russia’s Jonah Counts finished third with a 74, Bethel’s Tyler Weinert finished fourth with a 74, and Newton’s Brock Jamison finished fifth with a 75.
