DARKE COUNTY — “Systems Go,” a component of the United States Air Force Band of Flight stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, will perform at this year’s Great Darke County Fair.
The group will perform at the Grandstand Wednesday beginning at 4 p.m. The show is sponsored by the office of Darke County Veterans Services.
As a bonus, veterans in attendance will receive a free t-shirt from the Darke County Veteran’s Service Commission beginning at 3 p.m. Eligible veterans must show proof of service. Quantities are limited, so shirts will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
A multi-task group, Systems Go is the Band of Flight’s main recruiting element for the Air Force. The group tours extensively throughout the school-year to high schools across the Midwest promoting the Air Force and the many opportunities it provides.
As part of the Band of Flight’s commitment to community relations and event support, Systems Go also performs at fairs, festivals, amusement parks, and a host of community sponsored events during the summer months.
Combined with year-round support of military ceremonies and events, Systems Go maintains an extensive performance schedule that relies on the talents and flexibility of its members.
Led by Technical Sergeant Tim Stombaugh, the members of this versatile group have performed with Bob Hope, Stevie Wonder, Ricky Skaggs, Ben E. King, Jeff Jarvis, Bobby McFerrin, Eddie Palmieri, and Lee Greenwood.
Systems Go has performed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Dollywood, the Louisville Waterfront Independence Festival, on the Nashville Network, and at major air shows throughout the Midwestern United States.
“On behalf of the Darke County Veterans Service Commission and the Veterans of Darke County, I would like to invite everyone out to enjoy the show,” said Department Head/Veterans Service Officer Thomas A. Pitman.
