GREENVILLE —A Union City man was sentenced to jail Monday in Darke County Common Pleas Court.

Lee Franklin Ware Sr., 45, of Union City, was sentenced for possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony. His sentence included 60 days in jail with credit for 42 days served. He also was ordered to pay restitution of $125 for investigative costs and was ordered to complete 75 hours of community service.

Judge Jonathan P. Hein noted in his sentencing that though Ware’s presentence investigation determined him to be at low risk of recidivism, Ware was likely to reoffend if he continued his current habits in his lifestyle and companion choices.

In other court business, Vanessa L. Keen, of Covington, was sentenced for endangering children, a third-degree felony.

Keen was found in violation of her own recognizance bond set during arraignment, failing to show up for a probation appointment in June, admitting to smoking marijuana and testing positive for use of opiates. Her bond was set at $50,000.

Keen was sentenced to 60 months of community control sanctions, and ordered to complete parenting education and 75 hours of community service. She was sentenced to 111 days in jail, with credit for the full time already served. If Keen violates the terms of her probation, she is subject to up to 18 months in prison.

Matthew W. Parr, of New Madison, was sentenced to 60 months of community control on a charge of trafficking in heroin, a fifth-degree felony. He also was ordered to pay investigative restitution of $125 and must complete 75 hours of community service.
