Mississinawa Valley defeats Tri-Village in CCC volleyball match

UNION CITY – The Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks beat Tri-Village Thursday evening in four sets, 25-19, 25-13, 15-25, 25-22.

“We needed this win tonight, and it was good to see us rebound after a rough game with Ansonia on Tuesday night,” Mississinawa Valley volleyball coach Billie Hunt said.

“This team has been pretty good starting out matches … but we seem to have problems in the third game. We will dig ourselves a hole and have to fight back or we just lose it totally. I’m calling it the third game curse,” Hunt said.

“Even though we lost the third game, it was our play late in the game that really gave us the momentum going into the fourth game,” Hunt said.

“I told the girls I know it’s hot in this gym tonight so you have to play smart ball … if you are tired in that front row and you don’t think the hit is there then just get it over the net to the other side,” Hunt added.

“We have a good group of girls that look to share the ball. We don’t have that one big hitter, and that’s OK because I have confidence in our girls that if they play good team ball like they didn’t tonight we can win,” Hunt concluded.

Mississinawa goes to 3-4 in the conference and will host Troy Christian at 10 a.m. Saturday.
