NEW MADISON – Franklin Monroe took on Tri-Village in volleyball action Tuesday and swept the Patriots in three sets, 25-16, 25-23 and 25-11.

After getting off to a quick start in game one, the Patriots made a little surge to tighten the first game 25-16.

TV made the high soaring Jets work hard to get the win in the second game, rallying from a 23-16 deficit before the Jets finished got the win 25-23.

“I wasn’t real happy with our second game,” Franklin Monroe coach Amy Booher said. “We fell asleep and got lackadaisical.”

It was all Franklin Monroe in the final game and match as the Jets took it 25-11.

“I told the girls they really needed to come out and play with a purpose and take it to them in the third game, and they did that,” Coach Booher added.

Morgan Booher led everyone in the match with 21 kill, while setting up15 assist for the Jets.

Makenzie Kreitzer and Shania Baker both from FM also added nine kills each.

Carrie Baker had 22 assists, served seven aces and had nine digs on the night.

Kreitzer led Jets with 14 digs followed by Morgan Booher with 12 and Sydney Bowser with 11.

Tri-Village’s Kara Hollinger led both teams with 17 digs on the night, and Allie Downing led Tri-Village with seven assists and six kills.

“We tried a different lineup, and it seemed to work pretty good,” Tri-Village coach Eric Burkhart said. “We played well all night, and I’m happy with the girls on how they played.”

If it’s any consolation, Franklin Monroe coach Amy Booher was complimentary on the play of the Patriots as well.

“Tri-Village impressed me,” she said. “They have improved a lot since we saw them early in the year, and I give them credit for that.”

“We still need to work on some of the fundamentals, but we are getting better,” Burkhart concluded.

Booher was happy with the win, and she knows all the games mean something at this time of the year.

“Every win till the end of the season is going to be a big one from here on out, not only to finish the year strong … but it’s important for the tournament drawing as well,” Coach Booher said.

“We have big games yet with Newton and Arcanum in the league,” she concluded.

The Franklin Monroe volleyball team improved to 14-3 overall and 7-1 in the conference, and the Lady Jets will play at Newton on Thursday.

Tri-Village fell to 5-10 on the year and 0-7 in the conference, and the Patriots will at Bradford on Thursday.
