Versailles winery raises awareness for breast cancer

VERSAILLES — October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so the Winery at Versailles is recognizing it in a big way.

They are launching the Hope Whispers campaign for another year. In the past, this campaign has been so successful in providing much needed assistance to local cancer patients that they are continuing the fight.

For the entire month of October, The Winery at Versailles would like to honor a special person each day. This person will be nominated by the community. This person will be a past or present fighter or survivor of breast cancer.

The winery will randomly draw one honoree per day and feature their story on Facebook. They will also donate $10 in their name to the Wayne Health Care Cancer Center. Nominee information may be submitted via email: [email protected].

All nominees must have permission from family to release their name, info and picture (if you choose to add a picture).

The first honoree appeared Oct. 1 on Facebook.

Dave Nosker of Creative Labels in Troy, Ohio, donated the labels for the Hope Whispers wine. For every bottle of Hope Whispers that the Winery sells, they will donate $2 to the Wayne Heath Care Cancer Center.

In past years, the hospital has been able to purchase gas cards for re-occurring weekly treatments, camisoles for post-op patients, guest meals during chemotherapy treatments and a survivor resource guide.

They wish to give breast cancer the boot and all types of cancer be eradicated one day. The campaign will be accepting honoree submissions for all types of cancer, not just breast cancer.
