DAYTON – Versailles alumnus Mitchell Stover, a sophomore at Wright State University, has been named the Horizon League Male Swimmer of the Week.

Stover won all six individual events he competed in last week and also won both relay events he was a part of.

Against the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee on Friday at the WSU Natatorium, Stover won the backstroke (50.93), the 200 backstroke (1:51.99) and the 200 individual medley (1:54.51) and was part of the winning 200 medley relay team.

The following day against the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay at the WSU Natatorium, he won the 100 backstroke (50.79), the 200 backstroke (1:50.91) and the 400 individual medley (4:03.18) and was part of the winning 400 medley relay team.

The Wright State men’s swimming and diving team beat Milwaukee and Green Bay to improve to 2-0 in dual meets this season. Earlier this season the Raiders also won the four-team Butler Double Dual and finished fourth out of five teams at the Dennis Stark Relays at the University of Notre Dame.

The strong start to the season is a continuation of collegiate success for Stover, who was named the Horizon League Male Freshman of the Year last season. As a freshman he set three individual school records and was part of two school records in relay events. He also set a Horizon League and Horizon League meet record in the 200 individual medley as a freshman among other accomplishments.

Wright State returns to action on Nov. 14 when it travels to Rochester, Michigan, to face Oakland University and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
