Versailles boys bowling team wins WOHSBC season opener


DARKE COUNTY – The Versailles boys bowling team won its West Ohio High School Bowling Conference season opener on Saturday.

The Versailles boys beat Ottawa-Glandorf 2,716-2373 at Community Lanes in Minster. Alex Groff led the Tigers with games of 246 and 224 while Jacob Wenig rolled a 169 and 202, Brody Hyre rolled a 157 and a 184, Kyle Cotner rolled a 177 and a 150, and Luke Shellhass rolled a 198.

The Ansonia boys lost 2,121-1,985 to Lima Senior at Astro Lanes in Wapakoneta.

The Mississinawa Valley boys lost 2,155-2,136 to Temple Christian at Astro Lanes. Joe Teeter led the Blackhawks with games of 264 and 205, Matt Slyder rolled games of 136 and 143, Brandon White rolled games of 115 and 116, Dominic Rammel rolled games of 125 and 102, and Lucas Newbauer rolled games of 129 and 93.

The Ansonia girls lost 1,712-1,628 to Van Wert at Astro Lanes.

The Mississinawa Valley girls lost 2,123-1,752 to Celina at Astro Lanes. Kayla Harris led the Lady Hawks with games of 117 and 109, Tiffany Westfall rolled a 116 and a 107, Victoria Bentley rolled a 107 and a 98, Spencer Warren rolled a 186, Audree Weimer rolled a 101, and Elizibeth Mangas rolled a 100.

The Versailles girls lost 2,504-2,373 to Wapakoneta at Community Lanes. Maggie Hedrick led the Lady Tigers with games of 223 and 155 while Hannah Niekamp rolled a 191 and a 168, Makenzie Berning rolled a 163 and 127, and Olivia Bruening rolled a 156 and a 127.

The WOHSBC teams will return to action on Saturday.

The Ansonia girls will play Temple Christian at 9:45 a.m. at Plaza Lanes in Celina. The Mississinawa Valley girls will play St. Marys at 9:45 a.m. at Plaza Lanes.

The Versailles girls will play Celina at 9:45 a.m. at Pla-Mor Lanes in Coldwater.

The Ansonia boys will play Lima Shawnee at 1 p.m. at Plaza Lanes. The Mississinawa Valley boys will play Van Wert at 1 p.m. at Plaza Lanes.

The Versailles boys will play Wapakoneta at 1 p.m. at Pla-Mor Lanes.
