It’s time to mark your calendar for the annual Arcanum Wayne Trail Historical Society’s Christmas Bazaar. Location of the bazaar is at 128 W. George St. in Arcanum in the Historical Building. This year’s event will begin with festive luminaries lining the sidewalks on Nov. 27 at 6 to 8:30 p.m. for the Opening Night Sale. The bazaar continues on Nov. 28 from 9 a.m. until closing at 5:30 p.m.

To improve service to shoppers this year, on Friday evening there will be four checkout lines in operation with two checkouts in the back room and two checkout in the front for easy exit. This service will also continue on Saturday. As always, the bazaar is stocked with one-of-a-kind items at the lowest prices of the season. Important to note that Saturday only will feature the Bits ‘N’ Pieces’ Free Room containing decorating odds and ends for the crafty shopper wanting to make their own Christmas decorations and handiwork.

The society is excited to announce the expansion of Beck’s Boutique into two rooms with a wide assortment of sizes from petite to 1X in never seen before unique to glittery tops and accessories galore including jewelry, scarves and purses for the shoppers’ pleasure. The boutique is every woman’s secret place for shopping and looking well-dressed for the holidays.

Behind the boutique rooms, find Mrs. Santa’s Kitchen Bake Shoppe with an ample selection of homemade cakes, cookies, homemade candies and more ready for your table now or freeze for the holidays.

In the large meeting room find a “Forest of Trees” of all sizes and varieties from glittery to natural, plus wreaths, swags, garlands, sleighs and hundreds of small decorative items including that dish, candle, ceramic piece and unusual ornament needed for every home. Each year, the Bazaar brings out new items and this year is no exception, look for mini easel Christmas art, new large wooden snowmen, whimsical wooden stars, and lighted wooden trees. In addition a department of Autumn Décor will be available for stocking ahead in your storage for next year’s fall season.

A door prize will be given on Friday night and one on Saturday, all shoppers will be eligible; no purchase necessary nor need to be present to win. A 50-50 raffle and in-house raffle will be held during the entire Bazaar, tickets will be $5 each and in-house raffle will be six for $5. Winners of the 50-50 and In-House raffles will be drawn at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, the 28th.

As always, the Historical Society guarantees the price of every item offered to be the lowest price of the Christmas Season and each item is one-of-a-kind and a treasure. Christmas shopping starts on the front porch of the historical building and continues inside and into each and every room. Come and enjoy browsing and getting into the Christmas spirit!

Our local Criterion Club met recently at the home of Carolyn Furlong. Criterion Club is a group of ladies in our community who gather several times a year for the purpose of discussing reading materials and supporting the community in many different ways. A member, Miriam Lockman, passed away earlier this year and members wanted to commemorate her service to the community by selecting and placing a book at the Arcanum Library in dedication to Miriam. A Resolution of Respect will be drafted and posted in the local papers as well as a copy presented to each of her children.
