GREENVILLE – In other court activity Monday afternoon, William Clarkson, 33, of Union City, Indiana, was sentenced on a fifth-degree felony forgery charge. The charge stems from a May incident in which Clarkson and two others reportedly were passing counterfeit cash during the annual Union City Community Garage Sales. A count of heroin possession was dismissed.

The state and defense jointly recommended community control sanctions, with Rohrer also recommending drug treatment for his client.

Hein sentenced Clarkson to 81 days in jail with credit for that amount of time served. He also imposed five years of community control sanctions with orders to complete any recommended drug or social programs deemed necessary by the probation department.

Hein pointed out to Clarkson that his community control options are running out and that Clarkson must make the decision to be a law-abiding citizen or face the consequences he must impose to protect the public.

The judge ordered the highest level of supervision during the community control and 75 hours of community service.
