GREENVILLE – Former longtime, Fairboard member Fred Worch has been selected to be the 2016 Great Darke County Fair Parade Marshal.
Worch was elected to the Fairboard in August of 1984, with 1985 being his first fair as a Board Member. He was a Board Member for 12 years, his last fair on the Board being in 1996.
During these 12 years, he was Department Superintendent and/or Committee Chairman of the following: Demolition Derby, 10 years; Dairy, six years; Goats, four years; Coliseum Exhibits, five years; Parking, Gates & Tickets, four years; Parking Only, four years; Agriculture/Home Arts, four years; Audit & Budget, four years; Tractor Pull, three years; Building & Ground Rental , three years; Building & Grounds Maintenance & Equipment, one year; Band Show, one year; Transportation, one year.
Worch also assisted on the following Departments/Committees: Swine, six years; Grandstand Events & Ushers, four years; Executive, Legal & Judicial, four years; Sanitation, three years; Poultry/Water Fowl, three years; Horse Show & Rings, two years; Fine Arts/ Domestic Arts, two years; Show Horse/Ponies, two years; Fair Premium Book, one year; Camping & Parking, one year; Senior Citizens, one year; Cattle, one year; Grange, one year; 4H and Junior Fair, one year; Parking, Gates & Tickets, one year; Parking Only, one year; tractor pull, seven years; Buildings & Grounds, four years; Buildings & Grounds Maintenance & Equipment, four years; Band Show , three years; Transportation, two years.
Worch held the office of Treasurer from 1989 to 1992.
He has been married to his wife Dorothy for 59 years, has three children, Kathy (Worch) Royer, Dave Worch and Kim (Worch) Cooley; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He worked in Greenville at Fram and Dairy Maid before becoming a full-time farmer in 1963.
Worch will be recognized at the Grand Opening of the 160th Great Darke County Fair that will take place at 8 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 19. 2016 and also at the annual Parade of Champions event that will take place in front of the Grandstand on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016.
