COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted (HYOO’-sted) has certified the election results of the three statewide issues that appeared on fall ballots.

Husted’s office says roughly 3.3 million people – or 43.2 percent of Ohio’s registered voters – cast ballots in the election. Turnout topped the 40.7 percent reported in last year’s contests, when Gov. John Kasich (KAY’-sik) was re-elected.

Last November’s election included a marijuana legalization initiative, which was rejected on a vote of nearly 1.2 million to about 2 million.

Voters easily approved a new system for drawing state legislative districts that’s intended to reduce partisan gerrymandering. Over 2.1 million voted in favor, while nearly 850,000 opposed it.

Ohioans also passed an anti-monopoly amendment, with about 1.6 million voters in favor, compared to the 1.5 million against it.
