Greenville girls basketball team picks up its 1st win of the season

FAIRBORN – The Greenville girls basketball team picked up its first win of the season on Wednesday with a 43-38 victory at Fairborn.

Fairborn took a 12-9 first quarter lead, and Greenville cut its deficit to 22-21 at halftime. Fairborn added to its lead in the third quarter, making it 32-27, but the Lady Wave outscored the Skyhawks 16-6 in the fourth quarter for a five-point win.

Chloe McKinney led Greenville with a game-high 14 points. Also for the Lady Wave, Cassie Cromwell scored 10 points, Kaylee Jackson scored 10, Payton Brandenburg scored four, Sara Wenning scored three, and Karsyn Shaffer scored two.

Evelyn Oktavec led Fairborn with 11 points while Kaylie Cook scored 10, Kirsten George scored seven, Courtney Mustard scored four, Chloe Johnson scored three, Megan Williams scored two, and Ashley Dagnan scored one.

Greenville improved to 1-4 with Wednesday’s win while Fairborn fell to 2-5.

Greenville returns to action at noon Saturday at Milton-Union.
