Phillipsburg man accused in shooting among indictments reported by Darke County prosecutor

GREENVILLE — A Phillipsburg man charged in the shooting of a Greenville man was among the recent grand jury activity reported by Darke County Prosecuting Attorney R. Kelly Ormsby III.

Charles W. Braumiller, 79, of Phillipsburg, currently is incarcerated at Darke County jail on a $150,000 bond. He is charged with two counts of felonious assault with a firearms specification, based on an investigation by the Greenville Police Department.

Braumiller was arrested Nov. 17 after Greenville Police responded to reports of shots fired at the intersection of Harrision Avenue and Fair Street. Officers arriving on the scene found Carl E. Smith, 56, of Greenville, with a gunshot wound. Investigators recovered a Beretta 9mm handgun and a single spent shell casing at the scene.

Braumiller could face up to 11 years in prison and $15,000 in fines.

In other grand jury activity, Alexis N. Peden, 26, of Hollansburg, was indicted on a charge of burglary, a second-degree felony, and theft of drugs (hydrocodone, a fourth-degree felony, based on an investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office. She was given an own recognizance (OR) bond and released.

– Matthew D. Stokes, 32, of Greenville, was indicted on two counts of trafficking in cocaine, based on an investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

-Justin E. Bragg, 24, of Portland, Indiana, was indicted on a charge of complicity to possession of heroin, based on an investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office. He was released on an OR bond.

-Christopher I. Miller, 23, of Redkey, Indiana, was indicted on a charge of possession of heroin, based on an investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office. He was released on an OR bond.

-Kyle S. Scott, of Portland, Indiana, was indicted on a charge of possession of heroin, based on an investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office. He was released on an OR bond.

-Shelby R. Thomas, of Arcanum, was indicted on a charge of possession of heroin, based upon an investigation by the Greenville Police Department, and requested intervention in lieu of conviction.

-Joseph S. Mogle, 25, of Arcanum, was indicted on a charge of failure to report change of address to sheriff, based upon an investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office. He was released on an OR bond.

-Austin W. Hayes, 23, of Union City, was indicted for failure to provide notice of change of address, based upon an investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office. He was released on an OR bond.

-Tyler J. Boner, 27, of Greenville, was indicted on a charge of trespass in habitation when person is present or likely to be present, based upon an investigation by the Greenville Police Department. He was released on an OR bond.

-Thomas Rochow, 50, of Greenville, was indicted on a charge of theft, based upon an investigation by the Greenville Police Department.

-Todd O. Daniels, of Greenville, was indicted on a charge of vandalism, based upon an investigation by the Greenville Police Department.
