Union City News: Union City Redefined!

0

Well, here it is the middle of December and no snow, no not even in Union City. The shops are aglow with Christmas Lights, and the Community Christmas Lights are on at Harter Park.

This past weekend, PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving) sponsored Lights and Flights, with a 15- to 20-minute flight from the Randolph County Airport over Union City and Harter Park. They did 264 passengers Friday night and nearly that Saturday evening. A great time was had by all and they raised funds for PAWS. Congratulations to PAWS and the many dogs they rescue.

Unfortunately, we have had more vandalism at A Community Christmas this year than all other years put together. Someone is stealing expensive extension cords, shattering the spotlights on the cards, unplugging many of the displays, stealing light bulbs and generally ruining the fun for everyone. SOMEONE out there knows what’s going on and should be ashamed of them. They are stealing from all of you, our community who has donated time and money for the display. Please help by keeping a watchful eye out for individuals walking through the park, day or night. It definitely looks like the work of kids who have nothing better to do with their time and the founders of this project, Larry and Anita Amspaugh are heartsick over this. If you know something, please give the Union City, Indiana, Police Department a call. Any tip would be appreciated.

A ribbon cutting was held at noon Wednesday for The Dean-Cady Group at 227 W. Oak St., Union City, Indiana. The Dean-Cady Group is a new insurance company which offers a full range of insurance.

Please email or call me with any of your community Christmas Eve or New Years Eve Church services in the Union City area. Thank you so much.

Plenty to do in Union City. Union City Redefined!

What have you done for your community?
