Bargain Depot opens doors for business Jan. 4

GREENVILLE — The Treaty City will welcome a new business to town in January.

The Bargain Depot, 610 West Third Street, will officially open its doors to shoppers on January 4. The new retail establishment is located in the old railroad depot building near Tim’s Muffler Mart, off Chestnut Street.

Cassie (pronounced “Casey”) Sleppy is the owner and operator of the shop, which will offer clothing, shoes, lingerie, and bedding, among other items.

Sleppy, a lifelong Greenville resident, says the store will have something for men, women and children, and that she hopes to keep its inventory fresh as the business grows.

“We plan to sell a little bit of everything,” she said.

The goal of the shop, says Sleppy, is to offer her customers brand-new, name-brand merchandise at lower prices than can be found in other retail shops or even online.

“I plan to put bargain prices on all the items I’m selling,” she said. “I want to make sure the prices are lower here than [customers] can get anywhere else.”

“For instance, this retails for $29.99,” Sleppy said, pointing to a pair of ladies pants on a clothing rack. “I’m selling it for only $7.99.”

Name-brand items in stock, for example, include American Eagle-brand shirts and Hotel New York bedding.

“I’m expecting to have some jewelry here soon, as well as some household items. At some point we might also have things like furniture,” she added.

Sleppy says she also would like to rent space to flea-market style vendors this upcoming spring or summer to provide customers even more variety.

The Bargain Depot’s hours will be 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The shop will be closed on Sundays.
