GREENVILLE – The Greenville bowling teams lost their home openers to Troy on Tuesday at Treaty Lanes.
The Green Wave boys lost by just 13 pins, 2,028-2,015, while the Lady Wave lost 2,130-1,565.
The Greenville boys beat Troy 838-796 in the first game and led 1,732-1,711 through two games.
Troy then took a 1,868-1,843 lead with a 157-111 win in the first baker game. Even though Greenville won the second baker game 172-160, it wasn’t enough to overcome its deficit as the Wave lost the match by 13 pins.
Greenville’s Cullen Blinn led all bowlers on Tuesday as he rolled games of 171 and 234 for a 202.5 average. Tyler Netzley bowled games of 210 and 193, Dylan Stepp rolled games of 191 and 175, Ted Klepinger rolled games of 139 and 120, Jonathan Holman had a 172, and Malachi Flatter rolled a 127.
Landon Flory led Troy with games of 189 and 199. Also for the Trojans, Aaron Stone rolled games of 203 and 177, Hayden Jackson had games of 176 and 162, Jason Shiltz bowled games of 128 and 175, and A.J. Kendall had games of 100 and 202.
Troy led throughout the girls match, winning the first game 925-642 and winning the second game 922-706. The Trojans also won the baker games 162-115 and 121-101.
Zoe Fields led the Lady Wave with games of 128 and 173 while Mariah Kohlhorst had games of 151 and 146, Alejandra Segura rolled games of 137 and 149, Haley Dillman bowled a 139, Leslie Miller rolled a 124, Jessica Rieman rolled a 102, and Madison Treadway had a 99.
Jenna Stone led Troy with games of 208 and 232, Rachel Darrow had games of 196 and 183, Kirsten McMullen rolled games of 156 and 171, A’leigha Smith bowled a 201, Cassidy McMullen rolled a 190, Alyssa Shilt had a 164, and Jennica Funderburg rolled a 146.
Both Greenville bowling teams fell to 0-2 on the season with Tuesday’s losses. Troy’s boys improved to 3-6, and the Troy girls improved to 9-0.
The Greenville varsity bowlers will return to action on Jan. 5 against Vandalia-Butler at Poelking Marian. The Wave’s junior varsity teams will compete on Jan. 2 at the Pirate Challenge at Capri Lanes.
