GREENVILLE – From Nov. 15 through Dec. 15, locals and visitors who shopped at participating downtown Greenville businesses, received tickets for our Win the Window contest.

Ed and Paula Palagyi are from Conneaut, Ohio, a small community located on the shores of Lake Erie. The couple traveled to Greenville over the Thanksgiving holiday to visit family. During their visit, they made their way downtown and did some shopping at multiple stores in the downtown district.

On Friday, Dec. 19 Main Street Greenville prepared for the drawing and were able to determine the number of tickets submitted based on weight, finding 136,000 tickets were submitted for the contest. Each ticket represented $5 spent in downtown Greenville, for a grand total of more than $684,000.

Amber Garrett, executive director of Main Street Greenville drew the winning ticket at 3:30 p.m. She selected Ed’s ticket from the giant 50 gallon tub of pre-stirred tickets.

On Monday, Dec. 21, the couple traveled to Greenville to collect their prizes and to complete some last minute Christmas shopping.

They were both extremely excited and wanted to share their sincere gratitude. They plan to keep a few of the items and share the rest with friends and family over the holidays.

Main Street Greenville expressed its thanks to the participating businesses and to Second National Bank for their sponsorship of the contest, as well as everyone who chose to shop local this holiday season.
